Oscar Loves Books on Big Screen
Tuesday February 17, 2009
The Academy Awards are coming up Sunday evening, and four of the five movies nominated for Best Picture are based on books: The Reader, Slumdog Millionaire, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Frost/Nixon. All four books, like the movies, have received widespread recognition. Want to impress your friends on Oscar night? Read one or more of these books this week (The Reader, at least, is a slim page turner you could finish before the weekend). Then you'll be able to add commentary about how the movies compared to the books between comments about celebrity wardrobes.

Comments
Usually, if I read the book beforehand I am not thet keen to see the movie. I found an interesting discussion on a forum about film adaptations and apparently some people prefer to do both.
But to be honest I’d be curious to read The curious Case of Benjamin Button, as I’ve seen the movie and liked it and can’t imagine how a movie could be based on a 26 page novel.
