John Updike's Background:

Updike attended Harvard on full scholarship and graduated in 1954 with a degree in English (summa cum laude).

John Updike's Family:

John Updike had four children and was married twice. He last lived in Beverly Farms, MA with his second wife, Martha.

John Updike's Writing:

Updike published more than 50 books including novels, nonfiction, short stories and essays. He is best known for the "Rabbit" series. He won Pulitzer Prizes for Rabbit is Rich and Rabbit at Rest.

John Updike Trivia:

Updike had a stuttering problem as a child, which is partially why he started writing.
