Nicholas Sparks' books seem like natural material for romantic movies. Maybe that's why so many of Sparks' books seem to attract Hollywood's attention. Here are all Nicholas Sparks movie adaptions in the order they were released.

'Message in a Bottle'

The movie version of Message in a Bottle, starring Kevin Costner and Robin Wright Penn, was released in 1999. The book Message in a Bottle was released in 1998. Message in a Bottle is about a woman who finds a love letter in a bottle and becomes determined to track down the author.

'A Walk to Remember'

The movie version of A Walk to Remember, starring Shane West and Mandy Moore, was released in 2002. The book was released in 1999. A Walk to Remember is the story of a popular guy who is forced to tutor a plain girl from a poor school. Love and tragedy occur, as they do in all Sparks' books.

'The Notebook'

The movie version of The Notebook, starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, was released in 2004. The book version of The Notebook was actually Sparks' first book to be published, and was released in 1996. The Notebook is about a man who reads to an old woman he visits from a faded notebook that tells the story of a couple who are separated by World War II, then passionately reunited years later.

'Nights in Rodanthe'

The movie version of Nights in Rodanthe, starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane, was released in September 2008. The book Nights in Rodanthe was released in 2002. Nights in Rodanthe is about a woman who is tending a friend's inn for the weekend in order to escape problems in her life, and meets a man going through his own crisis of conscience, who is the only guest at the inn.

'Dear John'

Dear John is the story of a college girl who falls in love with a man in the military. Dear John was published in 2006. The movie was released in February 2010.

'The Last Song'

This book was released in 2009, but the movie rights were sold before it was even written. Also, Sparks wrote The Last Song with Miley Cyrus (who is stars in the movie) in mind. The movie was released in April 2010.

'The Lucky One'

The Lucky One is an adaptation of Sparks' 2008 novel by the same name. In The Lucky One, U.S. Marine Logan Thibault finds a photograph of a woman buried in the sand while in Iraq. After finding it, he experiences good luck in many situations. He attributes the luck to the photo. Once home, he decides to track down the woman in the picture. The movie was released in 2012.

'Safe Haven'

Safe Haven is about a woman on the run from an abusive husband who must decide whether to trust again. It was released in 2013.
