Guide Review - Savannah Breeze by Mary Kay Andrews - Book Review
Many of the things that frustrated me about Savannah Breeze frustrate me about a lot of chick lit. The main character is shallow and makes stupid decisions that lead to her bad situation. She is then able to work out of her situation, winning a man and experiencing few real consequences.
Of course, sometimes the simple predictability of chick lit is desired. Sometimes you want something mindless to read on the beach. If that is what you are looking for, Savannah Breeze is not a bad choice.
In fact, Savannah Breeze has some unique points that make it fun to read. The descriptions of Bebe's best friend's "junking" and how they fix up the motel are interesting. Similarly, the Savannah and Tybee Island setting are easy to get lost in. Savannah Breeze even has two recipes in the back, encouraging readers to create their own beachy dinner and cocktail.
All in all, Savannah Breeze is fun and easy, but not good enough to warrant a purchasing as a hardcover novel.
