January - New Authors

You Know When the Men are Gone by Siobhan Fallon
Amy Einhorn Books/Putnam

January is often a big month for debuts. One of the most anticipated is You Know When the Men are Gone by Siobhan Fallon, a collection of loosely collected short stories about military wives. Kim Edwards, bestselling author of The Memory Keeper's Daughter, returns with her second novel, Lake of Dreams

February - True Stories & Fairy Tales

The Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels -- A Love Story

Those looking for February romance can turn to old standbys like J.D. Robb or read a true story from "Pioneer Woman," Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels--A Love Story). Donald Rumsfeld is also releasing a memoir, Known and Unknown.

March - You Know What to Expect

The Complaints by Ian Rankin
Little, Brown

March is the month for authors who always win. That's not to say all the books are great. You just know that when authors like Jodi Picoult and Ian Rankin release new novels, people will buy them. Other favorite authors who are releasing books in March include Kate Atkinson and Jasper Fforde.

April - Mostly Women Authors

44 Charles Street by Danielle Steel
Random House

There is a new feel good novel from Danielle Steel and Meg Cabot is releasing a darker young adult book than she's known for. Short stories, a memoir and a posthumous novel from David Foster Wallace round out the big titles for the month

May - The Beginning of Beach Reading

Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris

May will bring the 11th Sookie Stackhouse novel and a sequel for Lisa See.

June - Summer Reading

State of Wonder by Ann Patchett

Ann Patchett releases a new literary novel, and a fun young adult debut hits the shelves in June.

July - Not All Light

The Kid by Sapphire

Expect more chick lit and other beach reads from favorites like Jane Green and Jennifer Weiner this summer. Sapphire, the bestselling author of Push, will release her second book, The Kid, in July.

August - Transitioning Back to Literature

The Magician King by Lev Grossman

August provides some smart page turners and a couple intriguing debuts. These picks are a good transition into the heavy fall publishing season.

September - Good Start to Fall

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Knopf Doubleday

September is the beginning of the biggest season in publishing. There are stories to capture the heart and imagination -- both fiction and nonfiction. I think this is going to be a good fall for readers!

October - Big Books from Favorite Authors

The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides
Farrar, Straus and Giroux

October provides more titles from favorite authors -- Jeffrey Eugenides, John Grisham, Nicholas Sparks, Alice Hoffman...and more!

November - King Dominates

November brings a major new release from Stephen King along with a posthumous novel from Michael Crichton and some young adult heavy hitters.

December - Airplane Reading

The Fire by James Patterson

Most publishers don't release a lot of books in December, but there are a few thrillers from favorite authors to help readers relieve end of year stress.
