Guide Review - French Women Don't Get Fat by Mireille Guiliano - Book Review
Guiliano is not a nutritionist, but her advice seems like common sense--the sort of thing your mother might have told you. Her philosophy has pleasure at its core and seems simple enough, but it is also sort of counter-cultural. Guiliano is not selling fast pleasures, she is selling deep pleasures. Don't eat in your car. Savor each bite. She talks about love and sensuality. This is not your typical diet book.
In fact, it is not really a diet book at all. There are tips for losing weight, but the core of the book is really about a lifestyle and a way of viewing food. I am not convinced that French Women Don't Get Fat would be sufficient for anyone who wants to lose weight; however, I do think it is good advice for anyone considering their relationship to food.
I recommend this book for individuals and book clubs. If nothing else, it will give you some good recipes. (Try the cauliflower gratin and grilled peaches with lemon thyme).
