Mother's Day is a great day to show your mom how much you care. A good book makes a great gift on its own or as part of a gift basket. Moms who love to read will appreciate a Mother's Day gift that shows you want her to relax and take time for herself. What better way to do that than curling up with a good book? Check out this list for gift ideas that are sure to please.
1. For the Movie Lover - DVD & Book Gift Combo

Simon & SchusterThis has been a big year for movies based on books. Four of the five movies nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2009 were adaptations of books. Fortunately, most of those movies are being released on DVD in time for Mother's Day. If your mom loves to read and loves movies, why not get her a book and DVD of the same story.
Need some ideas of which books/movies to pick:

DellEvery once in a while I come across a book that I love, a book that I could read again and again, a book that I want everyone I know to read.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows is one of those books. It is a delightful piece of historical fiction that will make you laugh, cry and remember the transformational power of literature. This would be a great gift for your mom if she loves writing letters or if she's a part of a book club.

Windblown MediaThe Shack by William P. Young was originally written by Young for his kids as a way to explain who he is and what he believes. It is a story about Mack, a man whose daughter is kidnapped and brutally murdered. A few years after her murder, Mack receives an invitation from God to meet Him at the shack where they found his daughter's bloody clothes. Mack goes and works through the meaning of suffering as he spends the weekend with the Trinity, uniquely portrayed (God the Father is a large black woman, for instance). The Shack has been a runaway bestseller, and would be good gift to read with your mother if you like deep conversation together.

Penguin GroupVampires seem to be hot these days. If your mom liked the fast pace, romantic plot and supernatural twist of the
Twilight books, then maybe you should introduce her to some other vampire fiction. My top picks: The Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris, which starts with
Dead Until Dark (the HBO hit TV series,
True Blood is based on this series); also, the Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts, starting with
Morrigan's Cross.

Grand CentralDewey by Vicki Myron and Brett Witter is the true story of a cat who lived in the library in Spencer, Iowa for two decades. When Myron came into work at the library on the coldest morning of the year, she heard a noise in the book drop box. Inside, she found a tiny kitten. Over the years, Dewey drew more and more people to the library, and became a source of inspiration to Spencer and the world.
If you are looking for something more, pair Dewey with a framed photo of you and the family pet. Your mother will be thrilled!
