The elephant whisperer
- The author, a conservationist, Lawrence Anthony, passed away in March 2012, and the book will be re-released in May 2012. It is an incredible true story of one man's close relationship and interaction with a wild herd of elephants. If you are a nature or animal lover, or just enjoy adventure non-fiction, you will never forget this book.

The Help
- Fullof reality and humor; glimpse into the lives of southern women through the eyes of their help. Way better than an excellent movie! A must read

Freedom
- I loved this novel, very human and lifelike with the varying stories amazingly interwoven. A good synopsis of american politics and the world take on green issues. The two main characters could really be you me or anyone. Heartbroken to finish this I wanted it to go on and on. And yet some of the reviews were quite negative. This is a very good book indeed and a wonderful story

Kismet by Wayne Sharrocks
- I found this to be an extremely well written and compelling psychological thriller. Sited in London's seedy underbelly this well-observed account follows the lead characters journey on a mission for revenge and ultimately redemption. It's gritty, suspenseful, well crafted and has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the very end.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
- HeLa cells, from Henrietta Lacks, are the basis for modern medical research and many vaccines. These cells were taken without Ms. Lacks' knowledge or permission. Learn her true story about the cells that continue to grow and the impact she has made - a poor black women in the 1950's when segregation was still a part of U.S. A fascinating story as the author unfolds the family's story over a ten year period - a must read!

You Don't Look Like Anyone I Know--great
- I have just finished this piece of non-fiction and loved it. The author has prosopagnosia, a condition which makes it difficult to recognize anyone reliably--even herself. Heather Sellers talks about her unusual childhood and how she came to be diagnosed. The struggles that this author overcame to be a successful English professor and author are amazing. I saw her speak at an indie bookstore in Woodstock, IL and was amazed by her presence and strength. I am not usually one to read non-fiction, but I was not disappointed. I don't think you will be either.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
- The last line brought tears to my eyes because it is such a sweet lovely ending to such a brutal story, and because I may never get to visit with Salander again. I miss her already.

The Liquid City - Best Fiction of 2010
- I just finished reading and reviewing The Liquid City by Curtis J Hopfenbeck for Men's Magazine and absolutely loved it. It's what good writing is all about. Smart, funny, intelligent and fast paced. An excellent light fiction choice for a great escape or long plane trip@! Rarely is dialogue and bantor written so well, and rarely is it so prolific within one book. I was even more blown away when I found out it was Hopfenbeck's first book... Amazing! Talk about a future! Anyway, typically don't offer an unsolicited review, especially free of charge, but this was just too good to keep to myself and my readers. 5 stars all the way!
