From the article: Most Disappointing Books of 2009
Sometimes a recommendation of what not to read is as helpful as a recommendation for a good book. If you read some bad books in 2009, do fellow readers a favor and share your wisdom. Here are what readers say were the most disappointing books from 2009.
South of Broad
- Pat Conroy just seems to get more verbose and melodramatic with each book. He must get paid by the word.

Her Fearful Symmetry
- There was a lot of expectation for Audrey Niffenegger's sophomore effort, but sadly it was truly sophomoric. It was Thomas Tryon's "The Other" meets Stephen King's "Pet Semetary."

The Scarpetta Factor
- I've been very disappointed in the last 2 or 3 Cornwall novels. I used to buy them as soon as they came out, but now I wait for reviews.

Twilight "Saga"
- I don't even know why people call this series a "saga". Although I hate to admit it, Star Wars is a saga. Twilight is not. Too many Mary-Sues, sparkling vampires, odd romance scenes and a very predictable plot.

Time Traveler's Wife
- I know I read more bad books than this one, but this is the one that stands out in my memory. I didn't get past 50 pages or so. Just wasn't as interesting as I had hoped it would be, and the characters were too much like book versions of smiley faces.

Swimsuit by James Patterson
- The has to be the worst book written by Patterson. Much too gory, bloody, and boring .

The Scarpetta Factor
- Boring!! Jumped all over the place with a most disappointing "no-plot-line" formula and jumbled up ending. I have ALWAYS loved Cornwall's Scarpetta adventures but this one was a mess.
